Every winemaker aspires to create exceptional vintages. A dream that always begins with generous harvests, yielding perfect, balanced grapes that have reached perfect ripeness. These years are rare and leave lasting memories forever.
For Alice and Jérôme Tourbier, there are two unforgettable dates. The first marks the birth of Les Sources de Caudalie in Martillac, in 1999. There, in the heart of the vineyards, the couple created a domain where the stone and wood seem to belong to a distant age. In the beginning, 30 rooms, including a treehouse on stilts, welcomed guests with two restaurants and a Vinothérapie® Spa, unique in the world, drawing its water from 540 meters deep. Over the years, the property expanded with new rooms and suites, as well as a wine bar. As for the La Grand’Vigne restaurant, it was awarded one Michelin star in 2010, followed by a second in 2015. A year later, the ultimate recognition came: Les Sources de Caudalie became the first French Palace located in the countryside. Surpassing, and even soaring above, their initial ambitions, Alice and Jérôme Tourbier’s vision grew exponentially, and a new vintage began to take root.
It will be Les Sources de Cheverny in 2020. In Loire, another famous French wine region, they are committed to respecting history by reinventing an 18th-century manor house and adding a few chalets with contemporary lines. Rising from the ground is a "village" of 49 exceptional rooms and suites, an inn with a wine bar, and a Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant, Le Favori.
But why stop there? Experience and maturity are now motivating the couple to soon inaugurate two new addresses.
In Burgundy, it's in Gilly in Côte-d'Or that they are renovating a heritage treasure from the 14th and 17th centuries. Classified, the site features an ancient abbey that is expected to welcome 49 Rooms and Suites, a spectacular spa, and two restaurants by early 2025.
Finally, on the Alsace wine route, Les Sources will rise a bit higher with the Château d’Isenbourg, near Colmar. The project, set to open in spring 2026, will include around fifty Rooms and Suites, as well as various balneotherapy spaces, including an impressive 25-meter-long swimming corridor nestled in a vaulted wine cellar!
The exceptional wines of Alice and Jérôme Tourbier unfold with majesty. They perpetuate a unique art of living, focused on nature and the vineyards, while preserving each one's identity. True vintages.
