A stay at the Sources de Caudalie is a plunge into a world ofwine world in the Bordeaux region. Our estate is deeply rooted in its terroir and intimately linked to the world of wine, which it reflects in its activities. We offer a complete and unique experience around the vineyard, by three stages visit, learn and taste!
Visit Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Graves Grand Cru Classé, and discover its 16th-century tower, its vat room, its underground white and red wine storehouses housing 1,000 barrels and its cooperage. Covered in "Günzian" Graves, the vines draw their resources from a depth of over six metres, and the grapes benefit from the sun's mirror effect on the pebbles for optimum ripeness. This soil gives the wines astonishing characteristics. Subtly smoky whites with hints of flint, smooth, complex reds.
Our hotel offers several tours of Château Smith Haut Lafitte :
- " Discovery tour Wine tasting : You will discover the white and red wine storehouses, the vat room and the cooperage of the Château and you will finish by tasting a first and a second wine of the Château.
- " Towards paradise "The doors to the owners' private cellar will be opened for you, after a tailor-made tour of the estate and a tasting of the Château's first white and red wine.
- " Masterclass "This workshop sheds light on the estate's philosophy, its values and its passion, which is renewed year after year. An exceptional tasting of 5 great wines will complete your immersion in the history of the Château, following a private tour of our cellars and wineries.
- " A land of wine and art "Our soil offers an infinite wealth that is reflected in our wines, and can be discovered as you wander through our cellars. It is also a land that is home to monumental sculptures that tell the story of our passion from a unique angle. The tasting concludes this original journey.
Learn more the Art of Wine Tasting, a few Saturdays a month, with our Sommelier Aurélien Farrouil. The Chef welcomes you to the "Tasting Tower", with a bird's eye view of the vineyards, where he will introduce you to the art of wine tasting for an hour and a half. This visual immersion in the world of wine creates an atmosphere conducive to learning and relaxation. The bird's eye view of the vines reinforces the link between the wine and its terroir, engaging the sense of sight to understand the landscape from which the wines being tasted come.
Aurélien will explain how to appreciate a good wine, and guide participants through the various stages of sensory analysis. You will learn how to use your senses methodically:
- The nose to detect and differentiate aromas, whether fruit, spice or woody notes.
- The mouth to analyse the flavours, texture and balance of wines. This allows you to grasp the subtleties and nuances of a good wine.
Holding, smelling and shaking the glass are all part of the complete tasting experience. A convivial discussion will follow, where participants can ask questions and deepen their understanding. With a friendly atmosphere, a glass of wine and a lively discussion, it's sure to be a great time!
We offer two packages:
