We offer a complete and unique experience centered around the vineyard in **three stages**: visit, learn, and taste!
Visit Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Graves Grand Cru Classé, and discover its 16th-century tower, its vat room, its underground white and red wine storehouses housing 1,000 barrels and its cooperage. Covered in "Günzian" Graves, the vines draw their resources from a depth of over six metres, and the grapes benefit from the sun's mirror effect on the pebbles for optimum ripeness. This soil gives the wines astonishing characteristics. Subtly smoky whites with hints of flint, smooth, complex reds.
Our hotel offers several tours for visiting Château Smith Haut Lafitte:
- " Discovery tour Wine tasting : You will discover the white and red wine storehouses, the vat room and the cooperage of the Château and you will finish by tasting a first and a second wine of the Château.
- "Towards Paradise": The doors of the owners' private cellar will open for you, after a tailor-made tour of the estate and a tasting of the Château's first wine, both white and red.
- "Masterclass": This workshop highlights the estate's philosophy, its values, and its renewed passion over the years. An exceptional tasting of 5 great wines will complete your immersion in the history of the Château, following a private tour through our cellars and wine caves.
- **Learn** the Art of Tasting, on selected Saturdays each month, with our Sommelier Aurélien Farrouil. The Chef welcomes you in the "Tasting Tower" with a panoramic view of the vineyard, where he will introduce you to oenology during an hour and a half session. This visual immersion into the world of wine creates an atmosphere conducive to learning and relaxation. The sweeping view of the vines strengthens the connection between the wine and its terroir, engaging the sense of sight to understand the landscape from which the tasted wines originate.
Learn more the Art of Wine Tasting, a few Saturdays a month, with our Sommelier Aurélien Farrouil. The Chef welcomes you to the "Tasting Tower", with a bird's eye view of the vineyards, where he will introduce you to the art of wine tasting for an hour and a half. This visual immersion in the world of wine creates an atmosphere conducive to learning and relaxation. The bird's eye view of the vines reinforces the link between the wine and its terroir, engaging the sense of sight to understand the landscape from which the wines being tasted come.
Aurélien will explain how to appreciate a good wine and guide participants through the different steps of sensory analysis. You will learn to use your senses in a methodical way:
- The nose to detect and differentiate aromas, whether they are fruity, spicy, or woody notes.
- The mouth to analyze the flavors, texture, and balance of the wines. This allows you to grasp the subtleties and nuances of a good wine.
Holding, smelling, and swirling the glass are all part of the complete tasting experience. A friendly discussion will follow, where participants can ask questions and deepen their understanding. A warm atmosphere, a glass of wine, and passionate exchanges; the perfect way to enjoy this wonderful moment!

- Tasting class alone, dedicated to the appreciation of exceptional wines.
- Tasting class followed by lunch at the La Grand'Vigne restaurant, to pair the wines tasted with excellent dishes.
